Protect Your Online Profiles
It is increasingly important that you, your children, your friends and family protect their online profiles across the internet.
Social Networking websites are vastly improving and developing. Over 200 million people use Facebook alone on a daily basis.

By protecting your social networking profiles with privacy settings or giving advise to someone who isn't, you are putting that person in a safer online environment.

Always Remember
  • Never give out personal information over the internet, even if you think you know who you are talking to. People can, will and do sometimes pretend to be someone they aren't.
  • Never add people to your social networking profiles or MSN contact lists unless you are sure it is someone you know.
  • Never upload your pictures to a public space. Once the picture is uploaded on to the public internet, it will never be deleted.
  • Never, under any circumstances, meet anyone physically that you have met on the internet on your own.
  • If you think someone is asking you to do things you are uncomfortable with, or you think someone is acting suspeciously, report it to someone.

The internet can be a fun, exciting, informative and intuitive place - but it can also be very dangerous. Think about what you are doing and who you are talking to. Never be afraid to tell someone if you are scared or uncomfortable. There are always people who can help.
