- children with a Statement of Special Educational need which names the school
- children living in the admission zone defined for the school
- children who have elder brothers or sisters attending the school in the 2007/08 school year
- children who have social and/or medical reasons for attending the school, professionally supported by a third party and sustained by the Authority’s professional advisers
- children who live closest to the school (measurements made on a straight line basis)
For admissions in September 2008 the admission limit set for the school was 208 – 161 preferences were expressed for the school – 163 were admitted.

Moral Purpose
Our moral purpose is to imbue our young people with a sense of self worth, a desire to learn, an acceptance of challenge and the wisdom to make positive choices. We believe that this will empower them to take charge of their own destiny and lead to a more prosperous, healthy, just and inclusive community.
Our moral purpose is advanced by cultivating the fundamental motivation of staff: the motivation that guides their work in serving the interests of young people. We will do this by nurturing a culture, which emphasises trust and collaboration: a culture in which staff are supported as they grow professionally from good to great.
Our Aims & Values
We will meet the educational needs and expectations of our students and strive to provide the opportunities that all students need to develop their potential through:-
- encouragement to become self-motivated, confident and independent learners;
- the provision of a range of courses appropriate to their needs and strengths;
- continually monitoring and improving the quality of the educational experiences they undergo;
- ensuring a friendly, secure, courteous, supportive atmosphere and environment in which the needs of the student are met;
- encouragement to participate in wider learning, social and cultural activities;
- encouragement to progress beyond their expectations and aspire to develop careers and to access lifelong learning.
On leaving school, Redcar Community College students will be confident, self-reliant and able to judge right from wrong. They will be able to communicate and relate successfully to adults and their peers and be able to contribute positively to our society as responsible young adults. During their time at Redcar Community College, they will have had access to a range of learning experiences that will equip them for a rapidly changing world. They will have enjoyed their five years spent in our college.
We will encourage and provide opportunities for all adults working at Redcar Community College to continually update and add to their skills to enable them to increase their professional abilities.
Religious Education & Collective Worship
Parents have the right to withdraw their child/children from Religious Education and assemblies on grounds of religious conviction. Alternative arrangements for these students will be provided by the Head Teacher.
All children in their respective Houses will experience an assembly conducted by senior members of staff and subject leaders on a weekly basis. The themes for these assemblies are chosen annually and cover such topics as the family and religious festivals. The Head of House also conducts an assembly for their House in venues such as the Gym or Drama Studio. These assemblies perform an important role in the life of the school by bringing the school community together to reflect on important moral, social and spiritual issues, to ensure that all students are aware of important issues and activities taking place in the school and to allow us to acknowledge achievements of teams and individual students.
