 16 Year 10 students were given the opportunity to go a town called Helmond in the south of Holland.
They were taken around the Dutch school, where all the teachers were teaching in English for the day, went to the zoo, rode around on bikes all day as the Dutch children do, visited a war museum and were invited to a Dutch family’s house for a tasty meal. It was great experience for both students and teachers.
In May 2009 we are expecting another Dutch School to visit RCC so we are able to start another foreign exchange ready for October. |

This year there were nearly 60 young people involved in the 6 performances over 3 days. All in all about 500 people came to see the fantastic dance performances. There were many styles of dance including contemporary and belly dancing. We also had some former students from RCC who are now studying at Middlesbrough College perform some of their college work. 
On the 23rd March 2009, 27 Year Eight student’s and three members of staff went for a week’s residential experience at Lanehead Outdoor Education Centre, on Lake Coniston. This centre provides life changing experiences for the students from Redcar & Cleveland as well as the other three Boroughs’. 
Ben Hutchinson, a Year 9 student at Redcar Community College has been nominated for an award from the 'Change It' competition, which is supported by the Deutshe Bank. 
We took twelve students to Newcastle for the regional final of Games Workshop’s Schools League tournament. This is the qualification round for the National Finals, held in July at Nottingham. Whilst there, in the three competitions the students played 64 games in total, recording some 60 wins, two draws and just two defeats.
