Adele's Day
 Adele Puckrin attended Redcar Community College from 1998 - 2003. She was a high performing student who was a very popular young lady.

Sadly, Adele developed a brain tumour and suffered in the final year of her school life.  Despite this major illness she continued to strive to achieve brilliant results.  She completed all her coursework on time and managed to take some of her GCSEs.  Unfortunately Adele couldn’t complete them all, she was too poorly.  In the GCSEs she took she achieved A* - C in all of them.

Celebration of Achievement Awards
 On Wednesday 25th November Redcar Community College held its annual Celebration of Achievement Awards Evening.  The students who graduated from the college in the summer of 2009 were invited, along with their parents, to receive recognition for gaining outstanding examination results; the best in the history of the college.

There is a Werewolf in Town
 This week Year 10 BTEC Acting students from Redcar Community College performed ‘There is a Werewolf in Town’ by Lewis Gardner.  This play was enjoyed by over 200 students from local Primary Schools.  Year 9 students also provided entertainment in the form of Contemporary Dance.  An Art Exhibition was also part of the event and featured mixed media portraits, photography and Batik work.

Shoe Boxes for Children in Distress

 In the build-up to Christmas the thoughts of the students at Redcar Community College always turn to those less fortunate than themselves; and this year was no exception.

Again, as they have done for a number of years, the students decided to support the Children in Distress charity.  Staff from this charity visit Romania several times each year, taking gifts and materials for children; they support several day medical centres and orphanages in Bucharest.  This year the students filled and decorated 180 shoe boxes to be sent to children in these centres.

War Games
War GamesWe took twelve students to Newcastle for the regional final of Games Workshop’s Schools League tournament.  This is the qualification round for the National Finals, held in July at Nottingham.  Whilst there, in the three competitions the students played 64 games in total, recording some 60 wins, two draws and just two defeats.
